Boo!

me - Halloween 1963

Warning...
this post may scare you
if you are opposed to fun.

For a girl who was born on October 31 and was treated by her parents to many wonderful Halloween-themed birthday parties most of her childhood, I am always surprised, really when the evils of this holiday, my birthday, are pointed out to me by some "Christian" friends.  Just wondering does anyone out there think we may be spending way too much time in fear of Satan and demons and talking about spiritual warfare than about pure freedom, joy, and fun one can find in life with JESUS? Even while dressed in, gasp, a witch costume.

I discovered this article and thought I would share.

Fall at the Morgan Home

Falling into thankfulness

Thank God in everything
for this is the will of God
for you in Christ Jesus.
Thess. 5:18

Thanking God.  It can be a real challenge especially when faced with hopeless, ongoing trials. We all have a story. But the Word declares that I am to give thanks to God, no matter what my circumstances, and just to make it crystal clear... this is His will for me

Remember  Corrie Ten Boom? While in the concentration camp, she and many others were infested with lice. She was challenged with this very thought...give thanks EVEN for lice? She did and then discovered later that the lice is what kept the soldiers from coming in an molesting her and the other ladies.

I am convinced that His Word is true. And If I believe that, then I can rest and know that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans. 8:28)

On this dreary, gloomy Fall afternoon, I choose to "fall into thankfulness" for everything.

554. sleep lost, book adventure
555. tears shed, hearts healed
556. cramped car, room for love
557. quiet house, loud praises
558. lessons to do, knowledge gained
559. older, wiser

True measure of thanksgiving...

Not what we say about our blessings,
but how we use them,
is the true measure of our thanksgiving.
W. T. Purkiser

545. flannel pajamas, cozy

546. an afternoon nap with daughter, comfort

547. Monday supper in the crock pot, warmth

548. brisk Fall weather, quilts and sweaters

549. crunching leaves underneath my feet, sounds of Fall

550. preparing Sunday dinner for family, plenty

551. a quiet house, a quiet heart

552. candles, burning

553. daughter's delicious apple cake, scrumptious

Hmm...Sweet Patoes?

I just love rural south Georgia. I saw this truck on the side of the road today and just had to laugh out loud. With all due respect to the person selling the produce, I found this sign hilarious.

Seeing

Earth's crammed with heaven,

And every common bush afire with God;

But only he who sees, takes off his shoes..."

Still I count

Gratitude is born in hearts that take time to count up past mercies.
-Charles E. Jefferson
